Overall experience

My university has a vast range of services and resources that help students to gain a better study. With its welcoming attitude you would feel right at home and even for the students finding it hard to adjust to university life, there are facilities that are available to help in non-educational areas. For anyone seeking to further their study in UNSW, do not look at it as just one of the main universities in Australia but look at it as a place that provides great education and a place that provides many services.

Selection process and gaining admission

From my point of view the selection process and admission was not diffcult. It all depends mainly on the level of demand for the particular degree and the UAI you have achieved. So the demand for courses like telecommunication or electrical is high so the UAI might be high 80s and probably even high 90s, but that is based on my knowledge. I am a local resident so things like Visa does not apply to me. However, I think that it should not be hard to gain entry into my uni.

Funding and scholarships

Personally I am not on a scholarship or any funding program from the university as they are for the very gifted students who has achieved alot. But I do know people who have had scholarship and funding programs offered to them and from their point of view it was not a difficult process. As with financial assistance it all baiscally depends on meeting the right requirements that the uni has set or the govenerment witht he right documentations. In general you can navigate the university website for extra info.

Your study experience

Overall, I think that my course is a good course, especially if you like your science and maths. The best part is the friends you make along the way both in your classes and outside of it. Also the teachers that are kind enough to help you are considered as your next best friend in education. For me I try to study as much as I can even if it means staying up late, tho that is not necessary. Most lecturers and tutors are excellent teachers who do provide you with the relevant info you need. I do not use the study support provided but there are many out there for your use. If you enjoy it like I do then the course is value for money.

Your life experience

Uni life is basically the city life because you are situated in the city. With the current economic situation accomodation may be hard to find, but I'm sure there are many out there. I live at home with my parents so I haven't got much hands on experience in this situation. People in the city are generally nice people who are willing to help you. Within the university area there are lots of jobs avaible, but it depends on your taste and preferences. Our student union has changed since I firest attended uni. It is currently one whre you have to pay to be a part of, but they do provide you lots of events and freebies. There are many societies for local and international students who do have their own fun activities. The cost for each society varies but are not very expensive.

Job prospects

I think that with increased knowledge and a greater level of education I have increased my job prospect. I haven't completed university as of yet but I will msot definately keep in touch with fellow alumni once I've compelted my studies. I am pretty sure there is a alumni association that you can join to keep in touch with fellow students.
