Overall experience
Be ready to embrace independent studying at Griffith. Assistance in enhancing your studying experience is available, it's up to you to ask for it and make the most of it.
Selection process and gaining admission
t was a smooth experience for me as I was directed to appropriate persons to speak to when I first made with Griffith. The selection criteria is strict as there are various qualifications and criterion you need to meet, but the Griffith ALO was very helpful.I obtained my visa without any drama. As for advice to future students, I think they should really read carefully what they enrolment requirements are and produce relevant or appropriate documentations. Contact an ALO for advice.
Funding and scholarships
They are scholarship opportunities available. All you need to do is look. Check out your local embassies or high commissions. Check out websites of universities or institutions you are interested in and see if they offer scholarships. And there is the AusAlD scholarships. Otherwise there the other option of working and studying in Australia. Lots of other international students are doing it. However, this can be very challenging.
Your study experience
My program is exactly the way I want it. My courses are practical and relevant to what I will be doing when I go back home. I am learning new skills and knowledge in my field and am enjoying the journey so far. My lecturers are exceptional; they are the most dedicated people I know and very passionate in passing on their vast knowledge and experience in the field of journalism practice and academia. There are many free services to help students with their studies at Griffith, just ask for it.
Your life experience
Facilities at Griffith are top class. I enjoy the Gold Coast lifestyle-laid back but modern and exciting. As the tourism hub, there are many things to do and places to go. Brisbane is also an hour by train away, so we can go for visits there, too. My colleagues are a great bunch. We're a very multi-cultural group. The accommodation I am in at the moment is great. It is about 10 minutes walk to uni. Has a bus route right outside to the shops, train station, church, hospital etc.
Job prospects
I believe the additional skills and knowledge will equip me with a potential to secure a good job. I am a member of the Australia-PNG Alumni so I will be keeping in touch. Attain my other goals, that is put to good use the new skills and knowledge I've gained to and hopefully do my bit in helping my country's development.
